About

ABOUT US

Laünch Crüe, NAR Section #519, is a rocketry club based in Holland, Indiana, and supports the rocketeers of southern Indiana, as well as the surrounding tri-state region.  Our members are all ages, and come from all walks of life, but still have one common interest.  Most are very active in the operation and enjoyment of the club and launch regularly.  Every month we have a business meeting and a sport launch.  In addition to our regularly scheduled launches, we also host events that include competition flying. Rocketeers regularly come from all over the Midwest to launch with us. Our club members enjoy all aspects of competition, sport, and high power rocket activities and we regularly obtain 8,000′ FAA waivers and allow flights of up through “J” class motors at our home field. We also sponsor rocketry demonstrations and workshops for all ages interested in learning more about the exciting hobby of model and high power rocketry. We encourage you to visit soon and discover what you’ve been missing out on. Feel free to contact any of our officers to learn more.

HISTORY

Laünch Crüe has been a chartered section (club) of the National Association of Rocketry since July 1990.  The club was founded by five local rocketeers; four high school students and an interested father.  We have grown much since that time, have had many members, and have made an impact on the hobby of rocketry, both locally and nationally.  We have done many local demonstrations and have been launching at the same location since we first chartered.  Our club has run over 500 launches and continues to have monthly events.  In addition, Laünch Crüe has won eleven National Championship titles and has several individual National Championship winners as well.

LAUNCHES

Our club continually hosts year round monthly rocket meetings and launches at our home flying site located near Holland, Indiana (see map for directions and calendar for dates).  Our launches are open to the public and we welcome anyone to attend.  We have all necessary equipment for launching rockets from small model rockets up through “L” motor vehicles.  Our club uses a state of the art 12 pad launch system with pads that will support almost any size rocket, whether it uses a rod, rail, or tower for launch.  All you need to bring is the rockets to fly.

OTHER EVENTS

Each month our club has a business meeting, where we make decisions on upcoming events, discuss trips, competition, demonstrations, and other necessities.  These meetings generally last about an hour, but on occasion run longer if we have several upcoming events planned.  During summer months we have cookouts combined with the rocket flying.  This is a great time for members to relax and just sit back and talk rockets, while enjoying a burger.  In addition to our own launches, members attend out of state rocket launches, including national events.  We welcome everyone to come watch, learn, and launch rockets with us anytime.

MEMBERSHIP

We invite you to come to a launch and see what our members do.  We would love to have you as a member, and when you’re ready to join, membership dues are only $10 per year.  All we require is that you are a current member of the National Association of Rocketry when you join.  You may also download a membership form from the website.
